1. Who We Are

My Virtual Pastor ("we," "us," or "our") is a faith-based mobile application available on the Apple App Store. The app provides AI-powered pastoral guidance and daily devotionals for spiritual reflection and support.

2. Information We Collect

When you create an account using Sign in with Apple, we receive the following from Apple:

• Your name (if you choose to share it with Apple)
• Your email address (which may be your real address or Apple's private relay address)

This information is stored securely in our database (Supabase) solely to manage your account and personalize your experience — for example, greeting you by your first name.

When you send a message to the virtual pastor, your message is transmitted to Anthropic's Claude AI API in order to generate a response. We do not store, log, or retain your chat messages on our servers. Conversations exist only in your device's memory for the duration of your session and are cleared when you close the app.

Devotional content is generated fresh each day via the Anthropic Claude API. No personal information is sent as part of this request.

We use encrypted local storage on your device (iOS Secure Enclave via Expo SecureStore) to keep you securely signed in between sessions. This data never leaves your device.

To understand how the app is used and where it can be improved, we record a small set of first-party usage events — for example, when you open the app, complete onboarding, or send a message to the pastor. Each event includes:

• Your account's user ID (the same one that identifies your account in our database — for guest users, an anonymous ID generated by Supabase)
• The name of the action (e.g., app_opened, chat_session_ended)
• Basic context: your device platform, app version, and a timestamp
• For certain events, simple non-identifying details such as how long a chat session lasted, how many messages were exchanged, or which faith traditions you selected during onboarding

We never record the content of your chat messages, the text of your devotionals, your name, or your email as part of analytics. This data is stored alongside your account in Supabase and is read only by our team to inform product decisions. We do not share it with any third party.

You can turn analytics off at any time. Open Profile → Preferences → "Improve the App" and switch the toggle off. When disabled, no further events are recorded from your device.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect or use any of the following:

• Location data
• Camera or microphone access
• Contacts or photos
• Third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics, Amplitude, or Mixpanel)
• Crash reporting services
• Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect only to:

• Create and manage your account
• Personalize your in-app experience (e.g., your name in the greeting)
• Provide and improve the service

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

5. Third-Party Services

My Virtual Pastor relies on the following third-party services to operate:

• Supabase — Provides our database and authentication infrastructure. Your account data is stored on Supabase's servers. See their privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.
• Anthropic — Powers the AI pastor and daily devotionals via the Claude API. Your messages are processed by Anthropic's systems to generate responses. See their privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.

We do not share your personal information with any other third parties.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information (name and email) for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@myvirtualpastor.com.

As noted above, chat messages are not stored — there is nothing to retain or delete on our end.

7. Children's Privacy

My Virtual Pastor is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:

• The right to access the personal data we hold about you
• The right to request correction or deletion of your data
• The right to withdraw consent at any time

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted storage and secure HTTPS connections for all data transmission. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
